Business License Online Renewal


Welcome to the City of Fullerton Business Registration Division web site.

The following types of business activities will not be able to renew online; out of city contractors with expired accounts, massage establishments, massage technicians, tax exempt entities or and residential or commercial rental income properties that have acquired a new property or properties or sold existing registered properties.

If any of the information printed on the renewal is no longer correct you will need to renew by mail, in person or call to pay by phone and receive additional information. Accounts that have any changes require an application for an amendment to the account and are subject to additional fees for building and zoning review. Please download the application from our webpage and submit it by email, fax or mail to complete the renewal process. You will be notified of any additional fees or requirements before the renewal process is complete.

Your Business Registration Certificate will be issued under the provisions of the Fullerton Municipal Code. You are cautioned that the Business Registration Certificate does not permit operation of a business within the City of Fullerton in violation of any section of the Municipal Code or regulation adopted by the City Council including, but not limited to: zoning restrictions; land use specifications as defined in planned districts; historical districts; business tax regulations; Police Department regulations; Fire, health or sanitation permits and regulations. If you have any doubt that your business conforms with requirements of the Municipal Code administered by other departments, you are urged to contact those departments for further information before filing this renewal for a Business Registration Certificate.

Business Tax Return/Renewal Notices are mailed within thirty (30) days prior to the expiration date of your business registration certificate. If you do not receive your renewal notice by your expiration date, please contact the Business Registration office.

Please verify that all the information printed on your Business Tax Return/Renewal Notice is correct. If any of the information is incorrect or outdated, please call our office before making changes online.

Please note that not all changes will be accepted online as they may require an amendment to the account or it could require issuance of a separate business registration certificate with a new assigned account number. Changes to the address or activity are subject to review and approvals from the Community Development Department including additional zoning and/or building review fees.

Please allow up to thirty (30) business days after completing the online renewal process, to receive your new Business Registration Certificate.

Please read eligibility requirements before proceeding. Enter your business registration account #. This number can be found on your Business Tax Return/Renewal Notice in the upper left area of the tax return.
Enter your online renewal PIN #. This number can be found on the lower half of your renewal form in the renewal and payment section. The PIN # is located above the No. of Employees field found to the right of the renewal message area. Click here to have the PIN emailed to the primary contact's email on file.
